We arrived at Mark and Melissa's on Friday afternoon. Before arriving, we ventured up to Black Hawk to see how Colorado casinos were faring. We found an interesting variation on black jack in CO. There is a state law fixing the maximum bet at $5, the casinos have generally agreed on a minimum bet at $5 preventing any variation in bets. In place of real black jack the casinos offer something called Streak betting to allow people to bet more than $5. I decided the game did not allow anyone but the casino to win but Mel, ever the empiricist, decided to try anyway. He escaped with most of his stake after struggling against the odds for about an hour. At least a chip was secured for the collection.
Mark, Melissa, Julie, Mel and I had dinner at Benny's a Mexican restaurant that I have a particular fondness for. We got there despite experience our first real rain of the trip, and this in Denver?
